Adele dan Beyonce Borong Nominasi MTV Video Music Awards 2016

KOMPAS.com - Album Lemonade milik Beyonce memborong 11 nominasi MTV Video Music Awards 2016.

Dalam pengumuman pada Selasa (26/7/2016), Adele mendapat delapan nominasi untuk album terbarunya, 25. Tujuh di antaranya untuk lagunya yang fenomenal, "Hello".

Dalam kategori Video of the Year, "Hello" akan bersaing dengan "Formation" (Beyonce), "Hotline Bling" (Drake), "Sorry" (Justin Bieber), dan "Famous" (Kanye West).

Penyanyi lain yang masuk nominasi adalah Drake dengan delapan nominasi untuk video "Hotline Bling", Ariana Grande mendapat lima nominasi, dan Rihanna masuk dalam empat kategori.

Disc jockey kondang Calvin Harris, juga lolos di tiga kategori. Dua di antaranya adalah untuk lagu "This Is What You Came For", yakni pada kategori Best Male Video dan Best Collaboration.

Lagu itu disebut-sebut sebagai pemicu putusnya hubungan cinta Harris dengan Taylor Swift, penulis lirik dan melodi lagu tersebut.

David Bowie

Sementara itu karya terakhir mendiang David Bowie, album Blackstar, menerima empat nominasi.

Video musik "Blackstar" masuk nominasi Best Art Direction. Sedangkan "Lazarus" bersaing untuk menjadi yang terbaik dalam kategori Best Direction, Best Cinematography, dan Best Editing.

Sebagai informasi, album Blackstar dirilis pada 8 Januari 2016. Dua hari kemudian, legenda musik itu meninggal dunia di usia 69 tahun.

Menurut produsernya, Tony Visconty, Bowie memang merencanakan Blackstar sebagai album perpisahannya kepada dunia.

VMA 2016 akan ditayangkan di Madison Square Garden, New York, pada MInggu (28/7/2016).
