LOS ANGELES, KOMPAS.com — Ajang penghargaan musik tahunan Grammy Awards ke-58 telah digelar di Staples Center, Los Angeles, AS, Senin (15/2/2016) waktu setempat. Sebanyak 83 kategori nominasi pun diumumkan dalam pergelaran tersebut.
Penyanyi rap Kendrick Lamar mendominasi Grammy Awards 2016 dengan membawa pulang lima piala berbentuk gramafon emas, termasuk salah satu di antaranya piala kemenangan hasil kolaborasinya dengan vokalis Taylor Swift dalam lagu "Bad Blood" untuk kategori Best Music Video.
Empat piala Grammy lain yang dimenangi Lamar adalah kategori Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, dan Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
Sementara itu, vokalis kenamaan Taylor Swift pulang dengan tiga piala yang ia menangi dalam kategori Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, dan Best Music Video.
Jumlah piala yang dibawa pulang oleh Swift itu disamai oleh grup band rock Alabama Shakes yang memenangi kategori Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Song, dan Best Engineered Album, Non Classical.
Dalam ajang Grammy Awards tahun ini, vokalis Justin Bieber juga memenangi piala Grammy untuk kali pertama dalam kariernya. Ia berhasil menang dalam kategori Best Dance Recording berkat lagu "Where Are U Now" hasil kolaborasinya dengan Jack U yang terdiri dari duo Skrillex dan Diplo.
Hal yang paling membanggakan dalam pergelaran Grammy ke-58 tersebut datang dari pianis cilik asal Indonesia, Joey Alexander. Ia berhasil masuk dua kategori Best Jazz Instrumental Album dan Best Improvised Jazz Solo.
Meski gagal keluar sebagai pemenang, apa yang dicapai oleh Joey tetap menjadi sesuatu yang luar biasa. Bahkan, ia dua kali tampil dalam rangkaian acara Grammy dan kedua penampilannya mendapat standing ovation dari para penonton, termasuk musisi-musisi kenamaan dunia yang hadir.
